STUDENT LOG BOOK NOTES


1)     This log book needs to be used by Application Development (AD) student for a purpose of reporting all progress of their AD projects.

2)     It is the responsibility of the student that this log book is kept up to date and that the student complies with the Lectures’ suggestions and recommendations as noted by the student in the log book and approved by the Lecturer.

3)     Student MUST makes a regular meeting with a lecturer at least ONCE in TWO WEEKS. A minimum number of meetings for AD student-lecturer meeting are 6 times per semester.

4)     The Coordinator and Lecturer have a right for not to allow the student to showcase their project if this regulation is not complied.

5)     This log book has to be submitted together with the final Project Document

On 18th June our first Application Development class was held at BK5. We were briefed about our Course Learning Outcome (CLO) and were asked to come up with a group of 4 members, so here we are. We were given task to study about Agile and Waterfall methodology and present it on the next day. On 17th June around 8.00 P.M, we meet up to study about the software engineering methodology and write notes to better understand about the topic. We created a presentation slideshow to present the next day.

On our next meeting, each of our group member is to come up with a problem within the UTM or the nearby community and discuss it with the group. The problem which has the best solution will then be selected and chosen as our Application Development Project title.

On 23rd of June we start working on Introduction for our topic. Firstly, we looked for problem background and stakeholders. One of our team member Neerenraj suggested that in UTM students face difficulties to travel short distance such as to buys meals or when to submit an assignment at certain time in a rush. So we listed our problems and came up with solutions. We decided to create and distribute a survey form to our stakeholders which is UTM students. We separate our tasks as per discussions.

On next meeting, we planned to collect our survey feedbacks as a proof. Besides that, we planned proceed with Gantt Charts and attend meeting to discuss about use case.

On the day before we have booked an appointment with Dr. Marina to meet on 1 P.M. So we discussed our app functions and workflows with Dr. Marina. She then advised us to find more than one stakeholder for our application as our problem and module is not enough based on the requirement. She suggests that we take UTM guards as our stakeholder and broaden our app problem as we may then receive feedbacks from different perspective.

Around 7 P.M our team get together to create a report finding on the survey that we had distributed the week earlier. We compiled the survey and came up with a graph to show proof that our problem is real and identifying opportunity to come up with a solution. Each of our group member also given task to create their respective module’s Use Case Design.



Next Meeting Plan

On our next meeting we plan to gather all the Use Case Designs and the page navigation and revise them for accuracy. After that we plan to combine all of our current progress app development into a single device.

Once the topic was changed, we start back from User requirement for new topic which is Smart Tutor suggested by Vishaan. We met Ms. Marina for consultation about our new topics and get some ideas. After that, we work on it and collected survey feedbacks. We created two types of survey where one for student and another one for tutor. Other than that, each of us decided to do our respective modules screen design and page navigations.

On our next meeting, we were instructed to work on all the 4 modules and start on paperwork first draft Software Requirement Specification (SRS) which is included Introduction and Overall Description.

Since our project proposal was rejected in the last class, we gathered to do the our new project module’s SRS paperwork from the topic that we have choosen which is SMART TUTOR. We drafted our project’s page navigation and start doing the documentation for chapter 1 and 2.

Each of our group member came in with their respective modules progress and explained it to others member. we state our problem and try to solve it by discussing with our team member. By discussing it we were able to solve some of our issues but there is still some problem we haven’t got the solution to. So we just wrap up our progress and decided to present it on the next sprint.

We decided to connect our data from our application to database that we were using which is Firebase. We planned to create forum and FAQ session for our project.

We faced a major problem from today’s class after realizing that the framework that we were using is not suitable for this Course. Since time is very short, we decided to go with web application for our project with the same title. Each of our group member is given a module to do and present their progress next week.
